GCC Telecom HR Forum Website

Globally, the telecom landscape is undergoing a huge transition in terms of technology, market, talent crunch and customer demand. Every Telco’s challenge today depends on how we look at this. If we believe that now Telcos have a real opportunity to re-examine their thinking and re-invent the business designs, the real focus should be PEOPLE. Great talent builds great companies. What we do in HR is to help the organization to source, retain and develop talented people who in turn create value for the business.

It is this philosophy and approach that have made HR professionals in GCC Telcos think of creating a common forum - GCC Telecom HR Forum - that took its birth in September 2006 in Doha, Qatar. It is a non- profit professional forum of HR Professionals. Its objective is to create a platform that enables networking, sharing knowledge and experience that benefit all.

The forum meets 3 times a year and meetings are held in different GCC countries on rotation basis. In the last 1 and half years, it has held 5 meetings and made tremendous progress in building a strong network of GCC Telecom HR professionals. The patronage the forum gets from the Telecom management is amazing and it stands out as solid example of how best we can complement each other and creates value by sharing experience and expertise. Our ultimate mission is to develop this into a Middle East forum encompassing all Telecom operators. Eventually it should create centers of excellence in all HR discipline, uphold knowledge leadership, leverage synergy and be able to advise authorities on people management related legislations and practices and also enhance quality of professional education in the field of Human capital management.

So far, we have crossed few milestones; there are challenges ahead. With the level of determination and commitment our members have, we are confident of reaching our mission and destination much faster than we envisaged.

The members agreed to have a web site as an additional channel of sharing information. Qtel has volunteered to financially support the web site and the hosting is done with the professional help of Etisalat . We will be doing our best to make it attractive and useful to all .
